This is LOVE!

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35)

As I sat looking at this picture, I felt like a melt down of God’s love. The one holding the friend with arms around is like Jesus holding us. If you notice the other person is not even embracing his friend though the other has wrapped his arms around him.

I wonder the thoughts racing through his mind. Maybe he is feeling anxious, hopeless, or frustrated with life. Probably he has reached a point where nothing makes sense or perhaps, he has given up that true love exist.

We can be like that sometimes or most of the times.  But the Lord is always embracing us in every situation in every season in every brokenness, in our failures and so much more that we go through. The times we feel hopeless He comes and wraps His arms around us saying, “I am here for you”. When we feel hollow because we have been used, abused, and betrayed by our loved ones He draws close to us getting into the details of our wounds so that there is complete healing.

Friends, this is a reminder that He is for us not against us. Because His love is not based on feelings it’s who He is. God is LOVE. His LOVE covers all our sins and assures us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. When we look around, we may consider a mother’s love as the highest form of love. The bible tells us in Isaiah 49:15, “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; In this verse, God is posing a question… Can a mother forget the baby at her breast? Is it possible for her to not have compassion on the child that she has birthed? God goes onto say, even if she forgets you, I will not forget you!

What love is this that we should be engraved on the palm of His hands?

What love is this that He chose to fall, shed every ounce of His precious blood and die on the cross so that we may have life in abundance?

I believe there is no Love like Jesus. No matter what happens in this life, no matter what form of rejection we receive… even from our parents, God will not reject us! He will never forget us because He loves us with a father’s love, and He loves us with a mother’s love too! God lavishes His love every day. Just like this picture taken indicates – This is Love ❤️ and we are called to LOVE one another just as He has loved us.
